Tony La Chiusa is a talented Australian contemporary artist, specialising in large statement acrylic, ink and mixed medium on canvas. He has a thirty year portfolio of exhibited works across a diverse array of genres from textured abstracts, landscapes, urban-street raw to popular icon portraits and murals.

Enjoy a raw look of the colours that bring the coastal vibe alive: through the eyes of the artist, featuring an insight of people, texture and nature - mixed medium paintings.

'30 Over 30 Portrait Exhibition' by GG Noir - Gee Melo

Exhibition: Saturday 20th Jan 2024, 5.00pm to 8.00pm - Wine and Cheese provided.


Celebrating ageless beauty of women over 30 years at the 30 Over 30 portrait exhibition. This project is about body positivity and transforming the way women are viewed by the media and society. It's about feeling comfortable in your own skin and loving every wrinkle and strand of grey hair as well as honouring one's journey at 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and beyond. Created by local photographer Gee, GG Noir will unveil the results of her 6-month long body-positivity project on 20th January 2024.

'Hi-Vis' by Jessica Gilbert, Xavier Lane, Jaymie Maley, Jo Shand, Caroline Traill

All five artists exhibiting in Hi-Vis live and work in and around Newcastle, a city historically defined by industry and labour. It has also been, and is, a city of working artists. Hi-Vis workwear has become an aesthetic marker of hard work. Hi-Vis, the exhibition, makes this work visible.

'Still' by Kathyrn Taunton

Kathryn's second solo exhibition is observational and imaginative. She draws ideas from nature, memory, and the environment, symbols of her personal experiences. The lake and the sea near to Kathryn's home, the tall spotted gum trees, and the Watagan Mountain ranges to the East, provide a rich source of imagery for expression in her art.

'Safari The End' by Callam Lindfield

The Paintings in this show are a product of an obsession with practicing abstract expressionism, through the painting of figurers, faces and symbols, which enable the exploration of the artist's state influenced by his environment, experiences and relationships. This show reflects many complex feelings and ideas that can only be expressed through artmaking, each work conveys a unique emotion or reaction.

'Littoral' by Leslie Duffin

Leslie lives between the lake and the ocean, so doesn't have to travel far to glimpse vistas of water. She's constantly aware of the significance of living on the edge of a beautiful yet powerful force, mesmerising, yet deadly if taken for granted. Water gives life, but can so easily take it away. The duality draws us and keeps us fascinated.

'Creative Ingredient Soiree and Book Launch Event'

'Creative Ingredient Soiree' is a fun, free, public gathering for those in the creative sector and those interested in Newcastle's creative scene - hosted by creative consultancy, The Creative Ingredient. It is also the official launch of local author Megan Hills' collection of short stories 'Cookie Jar', with a reading (book sales thanks to local independent bookseller: Betty Loves Books).

'What was he Thinking' by Michael Meldrum

Originally a landscape painter, Michael has emerged as an experienced abstract painter inspired by texture and colour in the world around him. He is primarily known as a colourist. To quote Michael 'I just keep throwing the paint on until I am happy with it'. This relaxed approach to his work creates a visual feast for all that take the time to view and enjoy it.

'Mother Nature Meets Man' by Rohan Harvey

Rohan was inspired for this show by our connection with bright colours, movement, water, and nature. Most of his images are being in the right place at the right time, using creative post editing techniques to make the images evoke different emotions.

A joint exhibition of emerging local Artists, following their intuition, breaking their own rules and providing no explanations. The artworks on display showcase two distinctly different styles with Emily diving into moody contrast and texture and Julie indulging in vibrant colour.
